Projects
Below is an outline of the projects that I am either working on or have completed recently.
Dlayer
Dlayer is the development name for a project that myself and a couple of colleagues starting thinking about in late 2008. Obviously I don't want to give too much away at this moment because we are still in the early development stage but I can list a couple of points.
- It will be built upon the G3D PHP Framework.
- It will feature a high level of element customisation, think every element, every property.
- Open development system allowing modules to be created by third parties.
- Built from the ground up to support multiple projects.
- High level of usability, features aimed at both developers and scripters.
Progress on Dlayer is very good, check my blog to keep an eye on the progress and news about the first alpha release.
G3D PHP Framework
The G3D PHP Framework is the system that I use to create my applications and all future projects, it is going through an upgrade whilst I develop Dlayer, as we progress I will release updated versions of the currently released classes and new classes as they are developed/re-developed.
On this site you are able to read about its history and also download the classes that have been release as well as read their documentation.
Freelance/Contract work
April 2011 - Present - Targett Business Technology Limited
I am currently working on a reporting app for NHS employers, more details if and when I can provide them.
February 2011 - March 2011 - The Dailychic.com
A short term support contract for a startup the recently launched http://www.thedailychic.com . I spent my days adding in the features that didn't get developed before release and fixing bugs.
May 2010 - February 2011 - Ladbrokes
Developed an application that served and handled the core functionality required for each of the Ladbrokes portal sites, specifically the header, footer and authentication.
In addition to working on the above product I also developed a CMS for their mobile* site and worked on general support and enhancements.

March 2010 - April 2010 - Web based Training System
My latest contract involved creating a web based training system for the NHS
The system allows the administrators to create a variety of training modules including videos and slide-shows.
I'm currently unable to show an example of the system
December 2009 - January 2010 - E-commerce website
The system is an evolution of the e-commerce application that I created whilst I was employed as Head of Development at my previous employer. (My previous employer were the client so I could extend my original system)
The primary goal was individual behavior between sections, the Poles need to use a more visual system than the standard products.
I decided the best approach would be to extend the system to allow product types, product types are defined per category. To change the behavior or layout for a product you just extend the relevant classes, for example, to change how variants work for poles I create a item_client_productvariants_blinds class which extended item_client_productvariants adding new behavior as required.
I'm not able to show any source for this project but I am able to show an unpopulated version of the site.
May 2009 - November 2009 - Contracting
I spent six months contracting at AEA Technology Limited, whilst there I worked on a variety of projects and web sites.
